As we approach the new year, our lodge calendar continues to have lots of fantastic opportunity for social, community and fraternal events. Here's some of what's happening at the lodge. Master’s Appeal Our Master’s Appeal benefiting the local transportation unit of Shriners Hospital now stands $1025, thanks to your generosity. Remember all donations received through the end of the year will be tripled, thanks to matching donations from the Orient Lodge Board of Trustees and United Commandery. Donations may be made online at https://www.paypal.me/orientnorwood or by check or cash to the lodge secretary or master. Feast of St. John The Feast of St. John will be Friday, December 27, at Grand Lodge in Boston. The lodge has a limited number of Feast of St. John dinner tickets available for purchase from Wor. Tim Lephew. Must be a Master Mason to attend. Pinewood Derby Workshop Orient Lodge will host Norwood Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts for our Second Annual Pinewood Derby Clinic & Workshop on Saturday, January 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lodge dining hall. We’ll have the power tools, equipment and assistance available to help the scouts craft and complete their Pinewood Derby cars so they’re ready for competition. Keep an eye out on this space for requests for tools, and contact Brian Palmateer at [email protected] with any questions. Orient Lodge Sportsmen’s Club at American Firearms School Our annual shooting event will take place Sunday, January 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., when Orient Lodge takes over the shooting range at the American Firearms School in North Attleboro. This popular event fills up quickly and is always a great opportunity to join your fellow brothers, family and friends for some time at the range. The cost is $20, and includes a safety briefing, eye/hearing protection, optional onsite firearms rentals, & private access to indoor pistol and rifle ranges. RSVP and make payment on Eventbrite. Arrive by 5:50 p.m. Orient Lodge Corporate Membership to American Firearms School Applications are now open for Orient Lodge’s 2020 group membership to the American Firearms School. This extension of the Orient Lodge Sportsmen's Club is open to Orient Lodge members, and provides access to the AFS facility. Group membership participants can reserve a lane at American Firearm School anytime during standard operating hours, and also receive 10 percent off ammunition and targets at the onsite store. Guests can accompany group members to the range for $20 an hour. This group membership is an exceptional value at $25 per person compared to the cost of an individual membership ($275 per year) at American Firearms School. The group membership is limited to 25 people, so RSVP no later than January 25 on Eventbrite and lock in your spot for the 2020 calendar year. Morrill Memrorial Library exhibition The first traveling exhibition of the Orient Lodge museum and archive will take place during January 2020, when items from our archive will be on display at the Morrill Memorial Library, 33 Walpole St., Norwood. Norwood Masons United Table Lodge Be sure to save Saturday, February 8, when we'll host a Norwood Masons United Table Lodge at the lodge building in Norwood. Spouses and significant others are welcome for this special event.
